Cash boost for Conwy project to help working families in poverty

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that a project in his constituency is among those to benefit from the latest round of National Lottery Funding.

Creating Enterprise C.I.C has been successful in being awarded 499,990 after applying to Big Lottery Fund Wales’ ‘Helping Working Families’ programme.

The project will work in partnership with Community and Voluntary Support Conwy, to enable families affected by in-work poverty in the communities of Llandudno, Peulwys Estate in Colwyn Bay, Mochdre and Rhos-on-Sea, to reduce the impact of poverty.

The 499,990 grant over four years will fund one full time project worker, recruitment, engagement events, project delivery activities, volunteer expenses, marketing, translation, running costs, co-production facilitation, monitoring and evaluation.

Darren said:

“I am extremely pleased that Creating Enterprise C.I.C is to benefit from this latest round of funding which will help many families in Conwy. The project will develop skills, offer activities, advice and services to improve employability, health and wellbeing.

“The ‘Helping Working Families’ programme was introduced to bring about positive change in the lives of working families who are affected by poverty and supporting a child. The first year of the programme will be used as the development phase where projects will work to coproduce the programme equally with the families they’ll support to decide what the project should deliver”.
