 Darren Millar AM was elected to the National Assembly for Wales in May 2007 and was appointed as Shadow Minister for Communities and Local Government in February 2009. He currently Chairs the Assembly's Health, Well-being and Local Government Committee and the Cross Party Group on Faith, of which he is a founder member.
Darren is a former Shadow Minister for the Environment and Planning and member of the National Assembly's Sustainability Committee.
In 2000/2001, Darren became the youngest serving Mayor in Wales, a record which he understands is as yet unbroken, when he served the township of Towyn and Kinmel Bay. He has also served as a member of Conwy County Borough Council, the North Wales Police Authority and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
As a member of the Chartered Management Institute, Darren has experience in the charity, construction, care home and telecommunications industries. Immediately prior to his election to the Assembly he was employed as a Regional Manager for an international charity.
Darren is married with two children. He is a committed Christian and other interests include reading and history. |
