Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has praised the efforts of a charity providing accommodation for the parents, carers and families of sick babies and children admitted into Glan Clwyd Hospital.
Mr Millar visited Ty Croeso – Dawn Elizabeth House, a six bedroomed house in the grounds of Glan Clwyd hospital, this week, as the National Assembly’s Health Wellbeing and Local Government Committee prepared to take evidence for it’s inquiry into neonatal services in Wales.
During the visit Darren toured the paediatric unit at the hospital before being shown around Ty Croeso and meeting with trustees and staff.
Speaking today Darren said, ‘Ty Croeso is a home away from home for parents when their little ones are poorly. It has provided a safe haven for hundreds of families and helped them through some of the most difficult times they have had to face.
‘It was a pleasure to learn more about the charity and to hear of the hugely important role it plays in supporting families when they need it most.
‘I have a huge amount of respect for the dedicated staff and trustees of Ty Croeso – Dawn Elizabeth House, without their efforts the accommodation would simply not exist.’
He added, ‘The visits to both Ty Croeso and the Paediatric Unit have been very useful in helping to set the scene for the Assembly’s Committee inquiry into neonatal services. I want to thank all of the staff who gave some of their time to show me around and tell me a little about their work.’
