Commenting on the decision of the Conservative-led Vale of Glamorgan Council to remove sun beds from local authority-run leisure centres, Shadow Local Government Minister Darren Millar AM said:
“I very much welcome this decision which is in the best interests of local people. I hope other local authorities in Wales will follow suit.
“There are risks associated from overexposure to harmful UV rays. Public bodies need to set an example by taking measures to protect the public and young people in particular.
“Where people do choose to use sun beds they must do so sensibly and be aware of the importance of taking every necessary precaution to protect themselves.”
