Commenting on the Assembly Government’s new waste recycling target, Shadow Local Government Minister Darren Millar AM said:
“We share the Assembly Government’s ambition of recycling more and landfilling less.
“But setting targets is the easy part. Achieving them is more difficult – and the Assembly Government’s record to date is far from impressive.
“Ministers need to help councils make it easier for people to recycle through measures such as kerbside recycling collections.
“They also need to work with supermarkets and retailers to reduce packaging, and to encourage people themselves to change their lifestyles to produce less waste.”
